Each pattern is created by celebrated artist Rebecca Ringquist in her Portland, Oregon studio, and printed for you to embroider with your own color and thread choices. 

Dropcloth Embroidery's ethos is anti perfectionist, anti typeA-  embracing
embroidery as an art form and as a way of relaxing our nervous systems.

Candles! An embroidery sampler that when complete you can sew into four festive holiday ornaments, perhaps with customized messages of love on the backside.  Basic Instructions included.  

This sampler includes four Candles for you to embroider by hand.  We used back stitch, chain stitch, and satin stitch but you can choose your own stitches to suit your own taste.  For best results, we recommend using 3 strands of embroidery floss or size 8 perle cotton in your needles. We also used metallic threads to make the flames sparkle.  


You will need:

  • Embroidery Thread
  • Needles
  • Scissors
  • Backing fabric or wool
  • Sewing Machine (optional)
  • Iron and Ironing Surface

*Want to add a little glitzy sparkle to your ornaments?  We’ve got you covered! SELECT "Add Sparkle!" in the dropdown menu. Sparkle kits include seed beads, sequins, and metallic threads to add shine to your ornaments.  Each kit is unique and contains a mix of new and vintage embellishments, hand packaged in an up-cycled metal tin.
