An embroidery sampler that when complete you can sew into four festive holiday ornaments, perhaps with customized messages of love on the backside.
This sampler includes four heart panels for you to embroider by hand. I used back stitch, running stitch, satin stitch and french knots, but you can choose your own stitches to suit your own taste. For best results, we recommend using 3 strands of embroidery floss or size 8 perle cotton in your needles. For the examples shown, I used all the colors in the Picnic Perle Cotton set, which you can purchase bundled with the Hearts sampler if you like!

Wonderfil Threads Custom Collection
Dropcloth Samplers is so excited to have collaborated on a custom collection of threads from Wonderfil. The Heart Ornaments was stitched exclusively with all nine colors in this set. If you haven’t tried Perle Cotton yet, you’re in for a treat. This shiny, easy to use thread is a dream to stitch with. Each of the nine variegated colors is perfectly coordinated to this sampler.
The sampler arrives preprinted on cotton quilting fabric, ready to stitch and includes basic instructions. You provide your own threads, needles, and hoop.
PLEASE NOTE: This item is not embroidered, but ready to be embroidered by YOU. The pictures show one way to fill in the design, but you can choose whatever colors/threads you like.

This Sampler measures approximately 10" x 10".
What thread should I use?
We use a combination of size 8 perle cotton and/or embroidery floss.

How should I back my sampler?
For best results, I recommend backing this fabric with a second piece of fabric (cotton or linen) before placing your fabric in the hoop. You'll get the flattest, most even stitches this way. Check out my how-to for this step on Creativebug or IGTV (@dropcloth)
What size hoops should I use?
I like a size 6—but use whatever you hoop you have on hand.
